The coolest thing about my job is that my office changes every day. One morning it’s my editing desk. Another, it’s the field at Fenway Park.

Genesis Foundation supports families affected by rare diseases and genetic disorders by providing education, resources, and community. Their mission is to empower families with knowledge and connection during some of their most challenging moments. Matthew B. Hoffman leads the foundation with a commitment to turning diagnosis into hope, ensuring families feel seen and supported every step of the way.

We came to Fenway to photograph kids and families experiencing something they thought was impossible. Batting from home plate. Fielding balls off the Green Monster. Pitching in right field. Hanging in the dugout with Boston Red Sox alumni. Standing next to the World Series trophies like total kids again. One of the best things about photographing moments like this is witnessing what happens when kids realize they belong somewhere extraordinary. The moment they step onto the dirt. The expression when they realize this is actually happening. The conversation between a parent and child about what they just experienced. These moments reveal what access actually means when it’s rooted in genuine care for families navigating difficult journeys.
