GW&K is on the 15th floor of a building on Berkeley Street in the Back Bay, which means the view is the best thing in the room. So we built their headshot background out of it. We came in to overhaul every team headshot at once, because before that no two of them matched. Now their own team talks about how cohesive and polished everyone looks, which is the only review that really counts.
I come back quarterly, for new hires and to refresh their candid library, which is what they use to show off the office. We take an hour and split it into three blocks of twenty minutes, and that yields 25 images. They supply the props, and I stage all of it and direct everything: where to stand, where to look, what to talk about. It is almost never about work. It is about how they would hide a body, the most irresponsible purchase they would make, and the correct ranking of Halloween candy. That is why everyone in these photos is actually laughing.
