Delta x Shake Shack x Tom Brady
I have photographed a lot of brand activations. I have never photographed one where the celebrity in question was actually there to show up for the people, which made watching Tom Brady work a room full of strangers feel different than I expected.
Delta and Shake Shack created something that could have been completely hollow. A massive crowd, airport logistics, celebrity presence, free food. All the ingredients for something performative. But standing there watching the moments in between the photo ops, I realized what was actually happening. People getting their Shake Shack before a flight. The quiet moment when someone realizes Tom Brady just made eye contact with them. The conversation between two strangers waiting in line that turned into something real because they were both there together.
One of the best things about photographing events like this is capturing what happens when people stop worrying about being at “the event” and just experience it. The genuine reaction. The laughter. The moment someone forgot to pull out their phone and just stood there present. These aren’t the moments the brand planned for. But they’re the moments that actually stick with people.
The gap between “here is a celebrity activation” and “here is something people will remember” is filled with a hundred invisible moments. We were there to catch them.
What an incredible day with an incredible crew. Thank you to Delta, Shake Shack, and everyone who showed up ready to just be there.
